Pretty things
I want to start drawing prettier things, don't get me wrong I adore my zombies but I want to create some pretty things also. I've drawn close to 50 zombies and made over 10 swamp heads- sculptural zombies fyi- and I'm just wanting to move on so badly. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to draw anything too saccharine sweet, just something else besides decay & mold. Maybe some pretty plants growing out of my zombie people, or possibly skulls with delicate flowers & tiny mushrooms. Drawings that straddle the line between pretty & creepy.
Oh dear, the possibilities are swimming round in my head and I'm rather excited =)
As you can tell I've updated the look of my blog to reflect the aesthetic I'm hoping to create with my art. I just love re-doing things and creating new things.

Blog Posts I'm Loving
Nail Polish Storage by Cupcake's Clothes
Georgina's room is so pretty & feminine, as is her personal style! I wish I had the time to make my room as personalized as she has with her room.
Knee Highs & Bubble Tea by Missing Lovebirds
Her style is so great! I'm digging her knee highs- I love wearing them also- and her cute orange dress. Not to mention the fact that she got to explore an Asian market & drink some bubble tea. I love food from different countries and I've always wanted to try bubble tea. I can do so vicariously through her post.
Hayden Flour Mill by Tea Talk
Her outfit reminds me of Peter Rabbit & old buildings are always fascinating. Enough said.

Day off with my dog
My dog, Poco is my best friend. He is a chihuahua that's rather inquisitive & very silly.
I had the day off with him & after playing fetch with him I decided on a whim to look up a homemade dog treat recipe. I found a simple one at this link: http://www.bullwrinkle.com/Assets/Recipes/Peanut%20Butter%20Puppy%20Poppers.htm
There are only a few ingredients & I had all of them. I made the dough and was surprised at how many treats I got out of it! I made them wee so they could easily be chewed by my little dog. Still I think if someone made them for a large dog they would still get lots of treats.
As I was baking them my whole house smelled like peanut butter cookies- my mouth was literally watering over the smell of dog treats- hilarious I thought. So if they smelled this good I figured Poco would love them!!!
Also as they were baking I decided to take a picture of my Poe next to a can of baking spray- to show his size & pretend he was helping me. He seemed to like it, and he was sniffing like a mad man so I think he was loving the smell of the treats as much as I was.
The recipe said to bake them for 20 minutes but I did for only 15 & they came out good. They looked like peanut butter cookies for little elves!!
I put them on a dinner plate to cool, rather than leaving them on the hot baking sheet. They felt very puffy with a slight crunchiness- perfect for Poco!
I could squish them slightly with my finger so I knew they would be easy for him to eat.
The biscuits were a hit!!! Poco loved them & I loved baking them.

Zombie Cameos
I've decided to mount my zombie drawings on colored paper to resemble cameos & to connect to the colors in my paintings.
I chose bright paper to add a bit of humor & whimsy & to also further highlight the fact that these are not your average cameo portraits. This is also why I left the paper square.
Some of my zombies have animal parts: I draw them so because I imagine them decaying & trying to put themselves together however they can, much like we as humans do when a bad event occurs.
Here is my first zombie cameo- there will deffinately be lots more to come!
