Wiring my canvases

Okay, so if you are going to be in any art show- you need a wire on the back of your canvas.
You may have not been taught this in school- as I was not- but it's important to do- preferably BEFORE you have made your art.
I've gotten help from a gallery owner in my town about wiring & such it was a very nice thing for her to do.
It makes it easier for potential future owners of your work to be able to hang the piece in their home.
It's hard to do until you get the hang of it but it's essential if you are going to be showing & selling your work.
You need screw eyes, wire, wire cutters & something to get the holes started on the back of your canvas.
And, remember to test your wiring to make sure your painting will stay on the wall- not on the floor!!!!
Good luck!!

What I Wore:: Pattern Mixing, & My Best Friend

My bestfriend in this whole wide world is Poco the Chihuahua- my furry friend whom I adopted 11 years ago.
He has been there for me through middle school, high school, college & everything in between.
He is a purebred Chihuahua but rather large! The breeder could not use him for show, so thankfully fate brought us together & we adopted him.
His favorite things are playing fetch, taking car rides, exploring new lands! (aka parks & our ever expanding gardens) and kissing everyone & everything. He is very affectionate & protective, and quite the character. He likes to steal things, and open his treat cabinet.
He adores baths and goes to a doggy spa where he loves everyone and gets treated like a little king!

This is my little love, Poco-Bisquit:

By the way, thats my Daddy holding Mr.Poe.

Poco is a tad chubby, thats because he gets seizures and his medicine makes him retain weight & makes him very hungry. We take him to the vet regularly so they can check his cholesterol levels and his overall health. So far he has been doing great! He has not had a seizure for about a year, before that he had them so bad he couldn't eat, walk or get up to go to the bathroom! It was so scary, we took him to the vet & they have been giving him his seizure medicine ever since.

Chihuahuas are prone to seizures, so if you are looking to adopt one remember you may have high vet bills. Also, they bark alot, I mean A LOT. So, be prepared. Never adopt a dog just because you think they are cute (Poe is SO cute) we were prepared- we researched Chihuahuas extensively and talked to the breeder about the best care & attention to give to a chihuahua.

This is the outfit I wore the day I took these pictures of Mr. Poco:
Shirt: Thrifted
Sweater: Thrifted
Skirt: Thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Walmart

These pictures were taken in my art studio, that I rent out all on my own- so proud of myself! Well, technically I have 2 studio mates- a wonderful retired art teacher & a very acomlpished photographer, but I have my OWN space that I can do ANYTHING with! Its so much fun, I'm so thankful I can have my studio!

There was this unusual circle rock- it was very large and as you can see has a hole in it. The hole doesn't go all the way through. We couldn't figure out what it was for or where it came from- but it was really cool none the less. We imagined pre-historic people using it for ceremonies.

There was this cute little tower on top of the cliff- It was kind of creepy but I wanted to go there- if it wouldn't be considered tresspassing.

Cartooning class

Im not used to drawing on the computer with a tablet so my drawings come out funny.
Thankfully for our other projects we can draw on paper beforehand & then scan the drawings into the computer ( yay! ) and further work on them there.
Here are a few things I've done in class so far.

What I wore & Betty's Restaurant

Top: Goodwill
Skirt: Plato's Closet
Locket: Graduation from High School Gift- I always wear it!
Shoes- plain black flats I wear obsessively from Wal-Mart, they remind me of the simple Repetto flats without the debt.
I love going to thrift stores, 90% of my wardrobe I get from them. You don't have to spend tons of money to look cute, also if you shop at a thrift store you're doing good by the planet & donating to them = some good karma ;)
Rant rant rant but it's something I believe in.
Betty's was delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich & chocolate bailey's cake. That cake was damn fine. If you get a chance to get to Betty's, order this cake.
Afterwards we went to Tift Nature Preserve, where we saw the new bat sculpture & a nest filled with baby birdies!
