Life can bring about a lot of stress that leads to you stressing about your life.
"My room isn't clean enough"
"I don't get to my studio enough"
"If I go to my studio my lil chihuahua is going to feel lonely"
"Oh God, am I becoming a hoarder?"
The way to solve this perpetual cycle of stressing then stressing more then freaking out is to:
Stop what you are doing
Realize you are good the way you are
You can never be perfect
Work on the things you want to do one step, or one inch at a time.
This is what I have been dealing with as an artist, who is in school, working, has the best little furry friend ever, and amazing friends & a loving boyfriend. Balancing life can be hard sometimes, for everyone. I've found doing the things mentioned previously really help me calm down.
I make lists too, and I write down things I like about myself. Doing this is like giving your mind a chill pill without the chill pills. It really helps.
And, if all else fails- it's OKAY to freak out, to feel upset. That can be just as relaxing when you have let it out.
As long as you are not hurting others, keep on doing what you are doing!!
How do other artists balance their need to create with their need to live their lives as well? Have any tips/ideas?

What I Wore::Dr.Who
Fish fingers & custard please! R.I.P. Amy Pond & Rory Williams- you two will forever be my favorite companions.
My outfit the other day was inspired by them. Also figured I'd show off my studio a little!
Top: Hot Topic
Jeans: Kohl's
Flats: Walmart

These are my new paintings!

Me looking at one of my works in progress, I'm excited about this one.

Home sweet other home.

My view is AMAZING!!!

My old ceramics teacher was THROWING OUT these cute little vases- how wasteful! I dug em out of the trash and saved them & now I use em for my incense & to hold pieces for my paintings.

Smoothie
Lately I've been into making smoothies with hemp powder, & I must say they've been turning out good, especially my last one.
I used:
2 bananas
8 strawberries
A few big scoops of vanilla Greek yogurt
About a half a cup of rice milk
2 spoonfuls of hemp powder.
I'm trying to freeze some as I write this to see if it will make some healthy yummy ice cream!
I'm a vegetarian & love eating healthy so when I discovered hemp powder I was all over that shit. I've been eating it everyday. It gives smoothies a weird color & a kind of not terribly smooth texture but it's very tasty!! So you get over all that weirdness in about .1 seconds after trying it.
Hope my ice cream turns out
Update: 7/28/12 my ice cream idea did not turn out, it was actually rather strange looking.

Vidler's
If you ever come to Buffalo, NY be sure to visit Vidler's 5&10 in the suburb of East Aurora.
They have a little bit of everything! It's so much fun to look at the 2 floors and 6 rooms of goodies.
They carry candies that are hard to find as well as unusual products you can't find anywhere else.

I got some clove gum there yesterday, a mighty mouse mug, star trek tng pins, a child's umbrella and some silly photographs.
They also carry old fashioned toys and cookie cutters shaped like hands & hammers! Just to name a few of the unusual shapes.
